A summer holiday in Damüls: get out into the mountains

Damüls is in the Austrian region of Vorarlberg, surrounded by the mountain scenery of the Bregenzerwald. It is a lovely destination for anyone who enjoys spending summer days outdoors. The area offers hiking, mountain walks, cycling and opportunities to enjoy alpine meadows, panoramic views and welcoming mountain huts.

Our 60 m² apartment sleeps 2 to 6 guests and makes a comfortable base for an active holiday. After a day outside, relax on the terrace and take in the mountain views.

Hiking and mountain huts

There are walks and hikes around Damüls for different abilities, from relaxed paths across alpine meadows to longer mountain routes. Mountain huts along the way offer places to stop for a break or a meal. One well-known destination in the wider region is Formarinsee near Lech am Arlberg, set beneath the striking Rote Wand. When planning a hike, check the distance, elevation gain, weather and current access to mountain lifts and public transport.

Cycling and mountain biking

Vorarlberg offers a variety of ways to explore the landscape by bike, from easier valley routes to more challenging mountain-bike trails. Bicycle and e-mountain-bike rental is available in the region. Before setting off, check that a route suits your experience and whether the relevant lifts transport bicycles.

Climbing and via ferrata

There are opportunities for climbing and via ferrata (Klettersteig) in the area around Damüls and the Großes Walsertal. These activities require suitable equipment and preparation. If you are new to via ferrata, choose a guided trip and check the route difficulty and current conditions in advance.

Family days in the mountains

The mountain landscape offers plenty of ways to explore together, from shorter walks and nature experiences to trips involving mountain lifts and mountain huts. Activities and opening times vary by season, so check the latest local information before you go.

Bregenzerwald Guest Card

For stays of three nights or more, the Bregenzerwald Guest Card may be available. Which mountain lifts, swimming pools and transport services are included depends on the current terms and participating providers. Before travelling, check the official Bregenzerwald Guest Card information.

A comfortable base for your stay

Our apartment has two bedrooms and sleeps 2 to 6 guests. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave and dishwasher, a terrace with mountain views, bicycle storage and a parking space in the underground garage. The supermarket and restaurants in Damüls village centre are about a five-minute walk away.

Winter sports in Damüls

Damüls-Mellau offers varied pistes and modern lifts for different abilities. From our apartment, it is about a 100-metre walk to the piste in the morning. When snow conditions allow, you can ski back to the front door at the end of the day.
